70th Anniversary Celebration

New Hamburg JR Hockey 70th Year Celebration

On January 7th, the New Hamburg Firebirds JR C Hockey team welcomed former Players, Coaching Staff, Executives and FANS  to celebrate 70 consecutive years of JR Hockey in New Hamburg.

Approximately 500 people attended this reunion. The day featured an afternoon of reminiscing and viewing of memorabilia. The Junior Firebirds showcased their skills in a game vs Burlington. The Firebirds hosted the Paris Mounties in the evening game which began with Opening ceremonies with event Chair Bryan Pfaff giving a brief history of Junior hockey in New Hamburg. Representatives from each of the hockey era’s also were introduced on the ice and participated in the ceremonial puck drop.

Special thank you to Bryan Pfaff for organizing this special day and evening. Thanks also to the New Hamburg Optimists for providing the food and to all of the volunteers who worked to make this event a success.
