The Firebirds Annual Awards banquet was held on Sunday, June 5th at Kennedy's in St. Agatha. Players, staff, executive, parents and friends enjoyed a delicious roast pork supper. Following the meal, the Awards presentations were made.

Events in 2021-2022

Oct. 2nd - Thanksgiving Food Drive with players at Sobey's and No Frills, New Hamburg collecting food items and donations for the Wilmot Family Resource Centre. 1,760 pounds of food items were collected. Well done players and community of Wilmot Township!

Oct. 29th -Fill the Rink with Pink Night In support of Breast Cancer Awareness.  This game against the Woodstock Navy Vets drew a crowd of 439 fans donned in pink shirts. A display was set up from the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. Ceremonial puck drop was done by 2 hockey moms affected by breast cancer.

Month of November - The Firebirds participated in Movember raising awareness and supporting men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancers. A total of $875.00 was raised.

Dec. 3rd - Teddy Bear Toss Night sponsored by the Township of Wilmot, featured a collection of warm hats, mitts and socks as well as 111 teddy bears which were donated to the Wilmot Family Resource Centre.

Firebirds in the Community

The Firebirds host and take part in a variety of events throughout the year including:

          • Teddy Bear Night, in support of the Wilmot Family Resource Centre
          • New Hamburg Santa Claus Parade
          • Helping Hands; volunteering to prepare Christmas Hampers at the Wilmot Family Resource Centre
          • Skate With the Birds; an afternoon of free public skating for all ages
          • Hockey Night at the Library; players visit local libraries to play games with young fans and to read to children

Friday November 23 -   New Hamburg Minor Hockey Night.

Wednesday November 28 -   Read with the Birds.     6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Baden & New Hamburg Public Libraries.

Friday November 30 -   Township of Wilmot Night.     Annual Teddy Bear Toss.     All stuff toys will be donated to the Wilmot Family Resource Center to be included in Christmas Hampers.

Saturday December 1 -   Baden Santa Parade.

Saturday December 1 -   Dolman Eye Care Night.

Sunday December 2 -   New Hamburg Santa Parade.

Wednesday December 5 -   Help with Christmas Hampers at the Wilmot Family Resource Center.

Friday December 7 -   BW Feed & Seed Night.

Friday December 14 -   Cut Above Night

Sunday December 16 -   Free public Skate with the Birds from 2:30 to 4:15 P.M.

Sunday December 16 -   Firebirds Annual Christmas Dinner @ Puddicombe House

Sunday December 16 -   Beer for a Year fund raiser starts.
