A crowd of over 400 people gathered for the Firebirds Home Opener against the Woodstock Navy Vets. The banner for the 2021-2022 Doherty Division Champions was unveiled. Prior to puck drop, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Ayr Centennials #17 Eli Palfreyman. Facing off for the puck drop were #17 Jake Phelan (Woodstock) and #17 Jake McDonald (New Hamburg). After 3 periods of exciting play, the final score was 8-2 for a home opener New Hamburg win.
